I liked this nutritional yeast it tastes good but has a slight vitamin taste because it’s fortified. I have always bought the non fortified kind but I wanted the extra vitamins. It is definitely not bad just not as good as some others I’ve tried

It’s nutritional yeast
What can I say? It’s nutritional yeast. It has the delicious nuttiness and light cheesiness I have come to expect and enjoy. I put it on a great number of my savory meals, vegan and not. I heap it on my pizzas, pasta, veggies, I even make a sauce from it to pour on my ground beef tacos. It has a good amount of protein and the additional B vitamins mean I don’t have to take supplements. I appreciate that Micro Ingredients makes this product affordable, especially for those who use a lot of it. My only issue is the resealable bag — after a couple uses, the seal tears apart.

It’s different
We already tried 3 different brands of nutritional yeast and all of them were somewhere very close to same taste where this one is a bit stronger on that yeast taste. I’m not saying it’s bad BUT if you want to try it first time and you don’t like yeast taste itself then I would recommend to try different brand. I personally to prefer that milder taste but have no problem with this one. I usually make sauce for pasta and was worried how our kids would take it (2yo,5yo) and younger just throw everything inside without even noticing any difference 😂where older first said it’s weird (we don’t say yuck on food but I’m sure she would said that 😂) so I just told her to try another one and then she kinda got used to it . So I guess it’s all good.

I really wanted to like this product
Although there are good things about this product ie. texture of flakes, pricing relative to increased pricing of my favorite nooch, I was disappointed in the lack of flavor. I use nutritional yeast frequently as a whole food plant based eater and have tried several brands of nutritional yeast. I really wanted to like this product but for my palate, this is bland and lacking in cheesy flavor.

Good Product
These have a stronger flavor than what I’ve had from Central Market. CM’s are more nutty. I can’t quite describe these ones, but the flavor is a little stronger, though still umami. I love some mixed with tuna or on popcorn. I’d buy again once the bag runs out. Due to the size of the bag vs the serving size, I may put some in a small ziplock so the whole bag isn’t exposed to air over and over again.

Caused Allergic Reaction
I’ve been adding nutritional yeast to salads for years. I decided to try this brand due to the low price for large quantity. I purchased my first bag and didn’t like the flavor nearly as much as Sari Foods and Justin’s nutritional yeast brands, but it wasn’t all that bad so decided to buy it a second time to save a few dollars. The taste was worse this time, with a subtle bitter taste. I had some on my salad right after opening the bag and had a food allergy histamine reaction all over my body on my skin right after eating it. All other ingredients in my salad were very simple and fresh. I know it wasn’t any of the vegetables, it was definitely this nutritional yeast that caused it. I immediately did some research on food allergies and found out that nutritional yeast can possibly cause a reaction like what I was experiencing. I’ve never had any food allergies before in my life but I instinctively suspected this nutritional yeast due to the worse flavor of this batch. I tried to return this product but I was informed that this item is not eligible for a return. This nutritional yeast is definitely lower quality than the other two brands I’ve continuously purchased on Amazon since 2018. I don’t know why this nutritional yeast tastes different than the other brands, why this batch tasted significantly worse than the first one and caused an allergic histamine reaction like that but it was an alarming experience and I cannot trust this product and I do not recommend it.Update: The seller very kindly contacted me the day after I wrote my review and offered me a full refund. I have ordered many other products from Microingredients for years and never had a problem until I tried their nutritional yeast. They said they use a different method than other brands to make their nutritional yeast. I would suggest they try a different method because of the sub-par taste and because there is another reviewer who said they had the same experience I had and that no other nutritional yeast brands has ever caused an allergic reaction, same as I explained. But I do appreciate that they apologized for the experience I had and volunteered to give me a full refund. However, as I mentioned to them in an email, the lower quality and safety of this particular product does cause me to have less trust in the quality control of the brand overall. If they were to make changes to their nutritional yeast based on the feedback regarding taste and safety concerns the level of trust I once had could potentially be restored. At the same time, I do appreciate the integrity of the excellent costumer service experience offering the full refund.

Best Non-Fortified Nutritional Yeast
I had to write a quick review to clear up something that another reviewer said about this, that almost made me not purchase it. One person said that this product was too “sweet” to be nutritional yeast. I just want to say, I’ve tried every brand of Non-Fortified nutritional yeast out there, and this yeast tastes EXACTLY as it should, not “sweet” at all. It is the freshest product of this type I’ve found, and it is full of umami. My old brand’s price went up more than it should have via inflation, and I refuse to support war profiteers, so I switched to this reasonably price product and never looked back. It’s THE BEST nutritional yeast.

Company beware of the labels please
I have purchased this several times and was completely satisfied with it. However my most recent order on 12/29 of it arrived and on 1 side of the package the label said Goat Milk Powder, and on the other side the sticker identified the product as the non fortified nutritional yeast.. It was Goat Milk Powder and not the yeast flakes I had ordered.. Please be careful as the yeast flakes are a great product…

Yummy and cheap
Way more product than I can get at the grocery store for a much better price. It’s even better quality with like large flakes, and so far, none of the random odd crunchies I get from the Simple Truth brand. The flavor is good or better than I’m used to as well. I wasn’t expecting the scoop it comes with, so at first I thought there was an inappropriate plastic piece left around. The only thing I would improve upon is the packaging – like a plastic cannister or something. But for the price, I don’t terribly mind. I have my own storage containers that I transferred it to.

This is a great price for the amount you get. I use it in my salad & veggies. Flake size is good. I get the non-fortified as Dr. Berg recommends. I will share that the Sari-Foods brand tastes a little more cheesy if you want cheesy but for $10 less, I will buy this brand again. Plus they include a little scoop for measuring your grams if you’re counting Macros like me. It’s helpful! It works but…not the easiest to consume.
Wanted to use this for my B12 and B9 consumption and to help with my overall body heath. It worked well for what it is but it does get stuck on the roof of your mouth so be prepared to drink lots of water. I would definitely get this in a capsule form next time.

Dusty, powdery mess. But definitely tasty. These are not “flakes”, more like dust. When I was transferring to a jar, I had to use a mask, and when I was done I had to wipe up a large area of a yellow sticky powdery mess. I wish it was actually flaked. I buy nutritional yeast at the market (Whole Foods Market: very expensive for a small portion) but it IS flaked so it doesn’t float in the atmosphere amd make a huge mess. Taste and nutritional quality, seem good. Just don’t breathe….

GREAT FLAVOR with All the B Vitamin Benefits
If I don’t have to take a supplement, I prefer to get my vitamins from food and this definitely makes it easy to get all my B vitamins in one place. I love the flavor too! Some people think Fortified Nutritional Yeast Flakes taste kinda cheesy, but I think they taste nutty. I sprinkle this on my salads, rice, potatoes, pretty much all my food and I feel like I have more energy because of it.

Nice clean flavor with Nothing added
First, I am glad that this Micro Ingredients’ Nutritional Yeast Flakes is not fortified because I like my food to be as natural as possible. Not only it is not fortified with synthetic vitamins but nothing is added like salt or any other flowing agents or fillers like rice powder. If I want to take vitamins or add salt, I prefer to choose my own amount and preferred brands.Second, I Love that it is also organic!Flavor is very nice and clean. Does add wonderful umami flavor to the foods for one of the reasons I use nutritional yeast. It is not as tangy as one another product I had used before but that was fortified and with added salt.I add to soups to enhance flavor. Often, I Just add couple of tablespoons or so into a cup of hot water and drink it. It is so nice and soothing especially between meals or late in the evening when I don’t want to eat anything heavy.

Gave me a reaction
It looks more yellow than most non fortified so i was a bit skeptical. I take nutritional yeast a supplement and 4 days in a row, I took a scoop by itself and and my skin started burning, my face, arms,, hands and neck got red and hot. It went away after an hour, but still pretty scary. I didn’t knownit was the nutritional yeast until I eliminated everything else I was taking around the same time but after 2 of the days only taking it and still reacting, I’m pretty skeptical of it. I tend to like other products of theirs but this is quite different than other nonfortified nutritional yeast products I’ve tried.Update: so…. I have come to realize that this product is high in B3 and what im experiencing is a niacin flush. It makes me feel great after the redness and flush subside so I’ve come to see this as a good thing. Im a big fan now.

My Bag Wasn’t Much Flaky, but VG overall
All other yeasts we’ve bought come as fine powders. This makes them messy if a breeze or sneeze blows by. This one does have some flakes, but the bag we received has still mostly powdery yeast dust, so I figure this is progress. The taste? We always top them into our cereal bowls, with milk-like liquid poured over cereal and the fruits and berries. So to us the taste is not paramount. It certainly is in the category of “sweet” yeasts that I grew up on, versus yeasts that were sour and unpleasant.It dissolves fairly well in the bowl but I can’t judge its behavior in a glass of milk, juice, or a shake.

Great taste
We bought another brand of organic flakes, and they tasted like soy sauce. Bleh! So I gave this non-fortified yeast flake a try without much hope that it would taste like “normal” years flakes. OMG, so cheezy and yummy. Just like the fortified non-organic stuff. I am pleased. Try it on organic popcorn! We have been using this a lot since it arrived. Compare that with the 2oz of the soy saucy yeck one which lasted 2 years because no one wanted to eat it.

Interesting.
Bought this to try in a vegan risotto recipe (not vegan, I just like to try new things). The recipe didn’t really compare to actual risotto. But, this is tasty and fun to cook with. It’s said that it’s like cheese. Maybe. It is melty and has a unique flavor reminiscent of cheese, but cheese it is not. It is good however and tastes great on steamed vegetables and it also adds protein.
